Dr. Pradeep Bala is a globally trained orthopaedic surgeon with 16 years of experience, specialising in complex shoulder, elbow and hand surgery, including sports injuries. He has had vast experience at international centres of excellence such as Sportsmed SA, Lyell Mc Ewin and Modbury Hospitals, Adelaide Australia, Ortho One Orthopaedic Speciality Centre, Coimbatore India and CMC Vellore, India. He has been involved with research, post-graduate training and administration for over a decade, and is a former Assistant Professor at a Government Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India.
Dr. Bala has performed over 5,000 surgical procedures with special expertise in shoulder, elbow, and hand surgery. He has been involved in the research teams for navigation-based joint replacement, using Optimised Orthopaedics, Patient Specific Instrumentation (PSI), and in designing novel cement spacer techniques for infected joint replacements in the shoulder. His work has been presented at the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He was also part of the 1st robotic joint replacement in South Australia in 2016. He was recently awarded the best presentation at the AO Wrist and hand mastercourse, MENA region.
Dr. Bala is a life member of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of India, Indian Arthroscopy Society, Austalian Orthopaedic Association, Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association Hand and Limb Society and AO Trauma. He has also worked with sportspeople from the Australian Football League, National Basketball League and National Rugby leagues in Australia.
